Logic Pro search bar is broken

Logic pro search bar doesn't find instruments. For examples: I searched for "Piano Bar Jazz 34" and pressed my computer keyboard's return key, but the search bar didn't find anything. I search for "Je Danse" after seeing four loops in the loop list that begin with the name "Je Danse", and again nothing is found. I have a track called "Grand Piano and Pad". I searched for "Grand Piano and Pad in the search rectangle. Again nothing was found. Why is the search function broken?

Hi,

You have to understand how the Library works to see "why" you are missing what you are missing.

Make sure you look closely at the Inspector and the blue "disclosure triangle". Depending on what the disclosure triangle is looking at, that is the information that will pop up inside of the Library (Key command: Y).

If the disclosure triangle is looking at the channel strip settings, you will be looking at all of the assets as an overview. If the disclosure triangle is on the audio effects insert level, then you will be looking at presets.

The same holds true for MIDI effects. Also, please remember that things will look differently depending on if you are using an audio track type or a software instrument track type.

I had a similar experience as you, trying to find an instrument. It turned out that it wasn't an instrument sound that would ever appear in the Library. Rather, it was a Sampler Patch. Some "instruments" can by Sampler or Synth patches. Did you use the Sampler or one of the Synths in Logic? I'm guessing that your "whirly-tremo instrument" is actually a Sampler patch.

Thanks, Audio Bojang and Eddy. Your answers were helpful.

The only problem now in this regard is that one of the tracks (with whirly-tremo instrument loaded) in my currently open song) can’t be found in either the instrument search bar on the left or the loop search bar on the right of my computer screen in Logic.

I also tried “Refresh Library” in the lower left of my Logic Pro screen, yet whirly-tremo instrument still doesn’t appear in the left patches Library in Logic Pro.

I found the other tracks in my currently open song with the two search bars and methods you two gents recommended.

Thanks, Eddy, for your explanation and for making that silent video for me.

When I click on my blue disclosure arrows over my instrument name or “Setting”, all that does is flip that entire column (with the names “Track” and “Region” near the top of the column) to the left of the Library column.

When I click again on the blue disclosure arrows over the instrument name or “Setting” the column is flipped again so that it appears again to the right of the Library column.

That’s not what happens in the video you showed me.
