New 2025 MacBook Air - 8062 file copy errors

On my 2021 MacBook Pro, I could copy all (35) my desktop folders to an external drive

New 2025 MacBook Air same process yields 8062 errors - same external drive, tons of open space

First folder copies fine, subsequent folders fail - no matter what the first folder I copy / paste is - first one works, so not permissions, etc.

Same MacOS level on old and new Macs - 15.6.1

Seems like a SW (I/O) issue with new MacBook Air

Any ideas before I call AppleCare?? - Thanks

Great! I'd be curious if the old drive works if you as a test erase that whole device as APFS (or maybe first as FAT (MBR) and then as APFS (GUID))?

It simply says Error 8062 cannot copy - no further explanation or I would have included it in my post

I have done both formats, and as I said same drives worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro

nothing is in the cloud - everything is on my Mac - as I said, this worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro, same folders, same target drive, same MasOS level - only variable is the new MacBook Air

Cannot do that Matt - many files on those old drives I do not want to erase, so for now, new drive solves the problem - plan to leave it as is for now - good luck
