Recovering ** drive after ejection

My TM ** is a Crucial X9 SSD plugged into my mini. It's formatted APFS encrypted. It shows in the Finder side bar. I inadvertently ejected it. The only way to get it back so TM could use it was to reboot. If it again gets ejected is there some way to recover it without a reboot?

Mac mini, macOS 15.6
