Apple Music playlists won't sort right on CarPlay

Hi thanks for this but it is still not a full resolve. Works until you restart the car and the sorting order goes back. Way around it is if you go to recently played and pick your playlist from there the order is sorted correctly. Sonos playlist sort order also still bad.

—SOLVED—

1. Try sorting the playlist in another order.
2. Sort it again in the desired order.

It should apply instantly.

Worked for me on iOS 26.1

os26 is such an improvement but this one is devastating. The last time a bug like this appeared it was almost 11mo of living with it before Apple fixed it. Sigh. It’s never a few steps forward, it’s one forward and one back with apple’s dev.

Yup. Can seem like a small problem for some people but it’s actually a very needed and missing feature. Like me, I have 4 playlist where each have 300-800 songs on. That’s a lot to scroll through just to listen to the newest songs that I recently added.

this creates two scenarios for me. Either I pick up my phone and selects the song or scroll through the entire playlist. Both things take too much of my focus when I actually should be driving. Apple, fix it.

I am also having this issue since updating to ios26

It's a bug and seems like Apple is not even aware of. I tweeted them as well, but no response. I have more than 200 songs in a playlist, and the scroll in CarPlay is endless.

I see, I had to do it with the playlist open in CarPlay.

@apple please fix this! Same issue has been broken with Sonos for years without resolve and great way to push people to use other services. Sonos is saying this is an issue with Apple UI not Sonos….

Sort of solved… it reverts the minute you move to a new playlist, so this has to be done manually every time you want to play a different playlist from your phone screen. I’m glad you found a temporary solution, but without being able to sort from the CarPlay interface, it’s a pain in the nuts to have to pull your phone out each time you want to play a different playlist while driving.

AM team needs a full overhaul of staff. Pure laziness and zero accountability. One step forward, one step back.

OK so this is an iOS26 issue...

i wouldn’t count on it. They never fixed the Watch os 25 ‘Now Playing’ issue.

Same issue; prior to the upgrade I sorted my music in the order that I most recently added it to that playlist. Terrible bug.

I am having the same issue as op. This bug forces me to take my phone in my hand while driving which is very dangerous. Please Apple, test your stuff before you release something.

So when will this get fixed? It´s really sad that i have to use my phone while driving.

So as far as i can tell it wasn´t fixed with 26.1 ... can someone confirm?
