Sequioa 15.7 Safari bookmark issues

Just downloaded Sequoia 15.7 on my MacBook Air. My bookmarks in Safari are now all messed up. I need to take 3 steps just to get to them while they used to be available on the left side of my screen. Secondly, they now have the full description and are not a concise list like they used to be. It is not user friendly and difficult to use. In talking to Apple support, there is no way to go back to the previous version. This is awful and needs to be fixed

I re-installed macOS Sequoia from the app store on top of the running macOS Sequoia 15.7, this process replaced Safari 26.0.1 with Safari 18.6 and keeps Sequoia 15.7. So far no issues.

when I saw your reply, I was sceptical. I thought for sure that a system wipe and reinstall would have been required to get backwards to safari 18.6. but I figured "what can it hurt to try?". so I laid sequoia over my sequoia with safari 26.0.1. and I do indeed have sequoia with safari 18.6 now, without a complete wipe and reinstall.

thank you for providing your solution. :)

This is absolutely dreadful. I have my 'Reading List' icons at the top of my Bookmarks list (WHY?) they are taking up about 1/4 of the space. One of my bookmark tabs has 70 bookmarks in it, and it takes ages to scroll down the list because there's extra-wide spacing and such a lot of totally unnecessary garbage -- icons & descriptions that I just don't need. I'm getting totally fed-up with Apple. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I’m having difficulty with the new notification interface and would appreciate some guidance. The current design feels quite busy compared to previous versions, and I haven’t been able to find options to collapse or customize the layout to better suit my workflow.

I’m wondering if there are any hidden settings or upcoming features that might address these usability concerns? The interface seems quite different from Apple’s typical design philosophy of simplicity and user control.

Additionally, I’m curious whether this design direction might be preparing for future touch interface implementations, as some elements seem optimized for that interaction model rather than traditional navigation.

Has anyone found effective workarounds or customization options I might have missed for Sequoia? Any insights from the community would be helpful.

Thanks again Apple another complete mess up of something that worked brilliantly for me for years and was far more advanced than this new system which again is complete unnecessary idiocy. So many bad changes by Apple this past year. So fed up with their BS. Changinging fundamental things so radically which I use on a daily basis literally over night.

No wonder Apple has not had success in attracting serious business user. EVERY update bring a bundle of issues that the user has to spent time fixing. 15.7 broke my ability to print to printers on the wifi network that has ALWAYS WORK UNTIL NOW. Just another mess created by clueless coders at Mac. I'd go elsewhere but we are too deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem. Plus the cost would be prohibitive for my small business. Apple lost their way about 5 or 6 updates ago. Very sad. I'm sure Steve is rolling over in his grave!

apple could not possibly code macOS to be compatible with the endless amount of 3rd party software / hardware. if you are using a business critical Mac, I would highly recommend doing your research BEFORE doing any updates / upgrades to ensure all your software and / or hardware will continue to function.
