Sequioa 15.7 Safari bookmark issues

I'm shaking my head in disbelief, because the people who came up with this hassle, resulting in users losing time and having a much worse experience with Apple in general, actually get paid big bucks.

About the Safari 26.0.1.... True, this is a monumental stuff-up of the stable bookmarks/folder system. It's like being lost in an endless maze, Apple's own creation. Suggest you sack the perpetrator/s for causing huge lack of time and what had been a very workable system. Instead a constant fear that everything, repeat EVERYTHING risks the total loss of bookmarks over ten years plus. This is exactly the sort of mayhem I retreated from using under the whole WINDOWS system. Add to this the very confusing "simply go back" or "you should always save your previous bookmarks"....LOL, what planet are you living on?? I do NOT INTEND reworking the total MAC OS 26 system to repair a severe hole in the road (read cave-in for this, big time). I will wake up over the next several days expecting answers or a seasonably intelligent and straightforward kind....Hello, anybody there, who is not freaking out the Safari system 26.0.1 with technicolor visit -the -cinema -now unwanted icons that fill my previously great screen several times over??? Get cracking and fix this mess ASAP!

I agree that was a useful pointer and I am now using it. But it's like going down a motorway having a jolly old time when all of a sudden there's a sign for a detour and having to add 20 mins to your journey time. I now too see the bookmark as a total waste of time, like having a dustbin in your living room. It was brilliantly useful before but for some reason Apple took a detour into utter useless madness and have driven us into an old drop down menu. I think they've hit reverse thinking.

And I keep finding more things wrong with Safari 26. Like erasing my edited titles to many hundreds of bookmarks. Taking up four times more space for a site's own corporate speak, boastfull, irrelevant, or otherwise !

more difficult? yes. impossible? no.

you can use Apple Menu > Safari > Bookmarks > Add Bookmark Folder.

I agree that this was an annoying step backwards. but there have been many suggestions in this thread (and other threads) that would allow you to get to a safari sidebar view that you are familiar with.

rather than complaining, have you tried any of those suggestions?

Sorry for being dense but I don't see a "..." in the upper right hand corner of my iMac screen. I've looked in Bookmarks and the Safari pages. Thanks for any update.

haven't tried it myself, but seen posts warning that throwing the Mac out the windows can result in performance degradation

JudySC: See my solution of 9-23. You will need to erase and reinstall 15.7 from recovery which will exclude Safari 26 which is causing the issue..
