screenshoot draging not working in macOS Tahoe

After updating to macOS Tahoe, I can no longer drag screenshots directly.


In previous versions, I was able to take a screenshot and easily drag it into Slack, WhatsApp, Figma, or paste it anywhere. After the update, this functionality stopped working.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.0

This worked for me, but I think the explanation could be better. Most likely something is messed up from the upgrade process. I thought it was working fine for a few days too, but then stopped. Do as suggested, Do Command Shift 5 -> click on options on the menu -> deselect floating thumbnail -> take a screenshot, notice nothing pops up -> Reselect Floating Thumbnail -> try it again and now dragging the thumbnail works as before.

The suggested fix isn't working for me. Is this simply a bug, or an intentional decision? Really annoying, I really on dragging the screenshot instead of finding it in finder to copy or opening it preview to copy. Also, I noticed it doesn't instantly appear in finder after the screenshot it taken, and sometimes only appears once I take A NEW screenshot. That part has to be a bug
