Logic Pro latency excessive after upgrading to Sequoia

I have just upgraded to Sequoia from Monterey.

In Sequoia I have noticed a perceptible delay between hitting a note on my keyboard an the sound being heard. I ran a test comparing Monterey with Sequoia by recording the sound of the keyboard note being struck and the subsequent sounding of the note generated by Logic through the speakers on both systems, with identical Audio Device settings (128 buffer size).

I loaded the two wave forms into Logic and compared. In Monterey there is no perceptible delay, but in Sequoia the delay is roughly 115ms, as show in this screenshot:

I have noticed that Logic is using a lot more CPU in Sequoia, but apart from that there is no extraneous load on the processor:

And these are the Audio settings in Logic (identical on both machines):

This is most frustrating - has anybody any ideas how to fix this, or is it a bug?

Thanks,

Stewart

I'm not having that issue with my Mac mini, running Sequoia and Logic Pro 11 with either my Roland Keyboard MIDI controller or my Yamaha P-125 MIDI capable digital piano, and I'm not experiencing any latency bugs.

You mention going back and forth between Monterey and Sequoia and testing.

How are you doing that? Are you doing that on the same Mac running virtual machines or are you comparing on 2 different Macs?

You posted a screenshot of your Input and Output, but is your MIDI controller connected via your audio interface or is it connected directly to your Mac mini via USB?

If your MIDI controller is going through your audio interface, then what happens if you set the Monitor setting on your audio interface to Input only? You should be hearing the notes as you play them.

I have more suggestions of things to try to narrow it down, but I need more info to help you. Like what model controller, how is it connected, how are you listening to the Playback? Wired or wireless?

I get that you're frustrated and it's easy to think it's bugs. But if it were bugs, lots of other Logic users would be having the same problem. So, it's safe to presume it's something else, yet undiscovered.

Additional info...

I contacted Apple support and they suggested conducting the same tests, but without the External Interface i.e via the system mini speakers. I chose the clave as the test sound as it has a very sharp attack. This helps establish the end of the sound of the key press and the beginning of the emitted audio.

I did this on both Monterey and Sequoia, which confirmed that there is roughly a 115ms delay between the sound of the key (triggering the midi input), and the sound of the clave hit emerging. This is clearly visible and audible when the waveforms are loaded into Logic, as displayed below.

So I guess that proves that it is not the external Octacapture interface, which leaves MacOS Sequoia and/or Logic Pro 11 as potential culprits?

Not sure what to do next!
