Routing Logic through SSL BigSix: 1-step prints

I know I am not the only Producer using ProTools or Logic with an outboard console. I am routing Logic through my SSL BigSix console and it works great. I do have a question though. First a little background.

When I route a mix from Logic to the SSL, I assign the instrument groups to the 16 channels on the board. No big deal. (So for example, I might have VOX on 1, BAS on 2, etc.). This routes the signal through the console. And it comes back over channels 15/16. Everything goes through the converters and USB.

When I got my mix, I Record it back on a channel with 15/16 selected as inputs.

Then I Bounce that track out Solo as usual. Works great.

Here's the thing. That is a 2-step process. And for me, very time-consuming because I work in Film/TV where there are a lot of alt mixes and stems.

I have a producer friend who was able to do this Print/Bouncing process in realtime, in 1-step. That is a huge deal. He has other outboard equipment (Avid Carbon and outboard gear Dangerous DBox, MBT and SSL Bus +), but that shouldn't matter. It's a proof of concept.

Prob is: I haven't been able to replicate his results!

Any ideas?

Tnx in advance,

DN
