Numbers gets stuck "Calculating"

Moderate size Numbers -7 MB- File. It contains several charts and tables on primary page and 3 three sheets that contain data used by a single table. I have saved this locally so there is no network issues. Often when I initially open this file without inputting anything it freezes with the"CALCULATING" dailogue box with a revolving icon appears and I am not able to input any new data. This also occurs when I input data in a cell that requires calculation. The only way I resolve this is by closing the file and reopening it and usually the calculating stops.

I have eliminated tables and charts until there is only one sheet and two tables and the calculating continues regardless of which tables and charts are eliminated.

I have copied the tables one at a time and put them in a new file and the problem persists If I put in more than one table or chart.

How can I get the calculating to stop other than closing the file?
