How can I prevent ads from blocking websites on Safari?

Hello,

When on certain websites with an ad at the bottom, when I scroll down the page, the ad floats to the middle of the page and blocks content. When I scroll up, the ad returns to the normal position at the bottom.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it? I have attached pictures at the bottom.

Also, when getting to the bottom of a page sometimes, it will allow me to scroll past the content and the bottom of the page is blank.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

You can try installing advertisement blocker extensions to reduce the amount of ads you see on Safari.

Most adblock apps are either paid or subscription based but there are some that are free on the Apple Store.

Personally I really like Wipr 2, it’s available for only $4.99 and it’s not subscription based like the other ad blockers. Works very well as long as you keep the app updated.

Edit: Alternatively, you can try Brave Browser. The browser has a built-in ad block function. Just gotta remember to enable them in the settings.

This happens because the website that you were visiting has been paid to display the "pop up" that appears along with the movement or placement of the "pop up" on the page..

This tells you quite a bit about what the priorities of the website might be.

Fix it by convincing the website to stop with the games they are playing, or don't visit that site again.

Better quality sites won't allow this type of nonsense.

This is happening to me as well. Any website I visit after the new i0S update places an ad bar that goes to the middle of the page when you scroll. This was not an issue prior to the update, but it's beyond frustrating to access any website now on my phone. I cannot figure out how to remove this except to use the "Hide Distracting Items" but I shouldn't have to do that for every website I visit. I hope Apple fixes this.
