Adding AirPods Pro 3 to iCloud with outdated iPad on iOS 12.5.7

Hey, i just got the new AirPods Pro 3. I'm trying to add the AirPods to my iCloud account but the only other apple device i have is my old iPad Air which is on iOS 12.5.7 and doesn't get updates anymore.

Every time i connect to the AirPods on my iPad is turns off bluetooth and says "Not available" and then turns on again right after.

What can i do to add them to my iCloud account?

Almost everything in these tech specs refers to requiring the “most current OS”

But at least it DOES include this paragraph:

AirPods can be used as wireless Bluetooth headphones with Apple devices using earlier software and with non‑Apple devices, but functionality may be limited.

They're working on my phone (non-iPhone) but my iPad's bluetooth seems to be messing up as i mentioned in the post. I got it to connect to my iPad on where i could control some of the AirPods settings but now it doesn't work anymore.

I know that they should still work no matter the device being used, but i would like to add them to my iCloud account so i can use Find My to find them if i somehow lose them.

Aha … you’re trying to get them into FindMy.

Are they at least working audio-wise?
