I get the usual clicking sound when I use shortcut commands to take screen shots, but I can't find them on my laptop. Screenshots have always been saved to the desktop in previous OS iterations...not in Tahoe 26.

Screenshots are saved in whatever location you set it to save. Tahoe has not changed this to my knowledge.
If it got changed, press the Command+shift+5 keys on your keyboard to bring up the Screen Shot app tool bar, then click on Options and select the Desktop as your screen shot destination from the Menu under "Save To".

I have a number of problems with Tahoe. If you don’t need it I would still wait.
This helped me finally the file. Unfortunately it looks like the Tacoma update also broke Airdrop so I can't get the screenshot to my phone. Great update. /s
