Magic Mouse doesn't charge

As soon as I unplug my magic mouse after charging, the charging level goes down to 3% and I'm unable to connect to it wirelessly. Any suggestions?

could be

dirt or lint in the devices port when that happen to me I clear it out with a match or toothpick

a defect cable, testing with another cable could show if it is so

a defect port in the device

In addition to Rudgar's reply, the issue can also be that the mouse's rechargeable battery is depleted and can no longer be fully charged.
