Tahoe upgrade broke tap & drag (without click) on macbook air

I have a typing injury so clicking on a mouse or trackpad is super bad for me. Most of my settings were remembered across the new Tahoe upgrade, but I was shocked that I had to click even after I'd logged in. I've found "tap to click", but I can't select or drag. It used to be a second tap, super easy. You can do something similar with three fingers now, but that's a lot harder to control, and again worse on my wrist.

There's an option "use trackpad for dragging" under "trackpad options" but that doesn't seem to do anything for this problem. There no longer seems to be an explicit option for second tap to drag or select.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.6

Ah, I'd also tried flipping all the toggles back and forth, and also restarting the finder, but I just tried turning the trackpad for dragging option on and off again, and this time it worked.

It looks like there's a bunch of bugs; I'm also seeing some when I use mission control to move stuff between desktops. Nothing that matters much, but just obvious errors that get rerendered.
