Technical Issue Report: Automatic Media Pause on Mac OS Tahoe

Device: PC / Mac OS Tahoe

Browsers: Chrome

Media Platforms: Apple Music, YouTube, Netflix, 123 Music, 123 Movie, Dailymotion

Peripherals: Wireless headphones (battery 100%)

  • Issue:Media automatically pauses across multiple platforms even with fully charged headphones.
  • Disabling Chrome’s media-playback-while-not-visible flag does not fully fix the issue on some sites (e.g., 123 Movie).
  • User unsure if iPhone is affected.
  1. Cause:Chrome’s media-playback-while-not-visible policy pauses media in iframes or background tabs.
  2. Some websites (123 Movie/Music) use iframes/scripts that override flag settings.
  3. Headphones may trigger auto-pause if Mac OS temporarily suspends audio.
  • Recommendations:Ensure Chrome flag is enabled and restarted 3 times.
  • Try other browsers (Safari, Edge, Firefox) to check if Chrome-specific.
  • Check headphone auto-pause settings in Mac OS/Bluetooth.
  • iPhone likely unaffected unless headphones trigger auto-pause.
  • For iframe-heavy sites, native HTML5 players or dev tools adjustments may help.
