It would help a lot if you tell us the model of your HP printer (exact model number) and how it is connected to your Mac mini.
Try shutting down everything ... mini, printer, all other peripherals. Shutdown meaning power is off, not just a restart. Then start your mini; after it's on and you have logged in, turn on your printer. See if that helps.
I have encountered this on occasion with some Epson printers; sometimes all it takes to get the printer back online is to start a print job, then open the printer queue (panel), pause the job, then restart the job.

If the printer is connected to your local Wi-Fi network and working with other computers, iPad or iPhone.
