Can I remove the Password app from my laptop following iOS upgrade?

Hi, I don't want to use Password app. I just don't want anyone to access my bank account if they were able to access my laptop should it be lost. But following upgrading to Tahoe (I think) I cannot access my bank account without saving my password. Effectively I can't bank online at the moment. I'm hoping someone can explain how to by pass this. Many thanks,

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.0

You need not save your password, but it doesn’t hurt to do so. Or, use a passkey instead. The passwords app can only be opened by authenticating so even if you lost your device, and someone somehow guesses your passcode to open your Mac, they would need to authenticate with your account credentials or TouchID.
