So I forgot my iphone password and was locked out. only option was to reset my phone. It claims my last backup was in 2023, and now after reset everything past 2023 is gone from my phone. All of my messages, apps, and photos have disappeared. Is there any way I can get them back? I definitely did a backup recently as I got a new phone and new phone number in July 2025 so this makes no sense to me.

Is it possible you have more than one Apple Account (formerly known as Apple ID)? That would explain what you’re describing.
Or was there another iPhone backup listed with a number appended ?

(Replacement / upgraded phones ate by default are given the same name as the prior phone, but with a number appended.)
Just for curiosity sake. When have time go into those other Apple Accounts and see if your last 2 years of backups are there. But with a more recent backups, those photos, messages, apps will remain gone. Sorry!
possibly yes, But I have always been signed into this one since my last backup and transferring phone numbers.
just one backup claim from 2023 nothing else makes absolutely no sense to me
