Iphone Battery Replacement

On 01/08/2024 my local iStore replaced the battery in my iPhone 11 after 4 years, now after 14 months my battery health is showing 80%.

I have run the battery stats app and it shows a drop from 3225 mAh to 2481mAh a cycle count of 265 and battery capacity of 76.93%.

I understood that the battery should have approximately 80% capacity after 500 cycles, I have not changed how I use the phone so why such a rapid degradation of the battery compared to the original?

Is the local iStore an authorized Apple service shop? If they are, they will appear when you click on the link below to show both authorized sales and authorized service shops in your area.

We ask because only authorized Apple service shops would have access to a genuine Apple replacement battery. If the shop is not authorized by Apple, they installed a third party battery and all bets would be off on that part.

Let's say that the shop was authorized and a genuine battery was installed. The iPhone 11 battery was designed to go up to 500 charge cycles before it reaches 80% Maximum Capacity. That works out to a decline of about 1% for every 25 charge cycles

And let's say that the battery app that you were using was correct and the cycle count was 250 for example. 250 divided by 25 = 10%. So, the Max Cap on the battery would be expected to be at about 90% at this time.

In the case of your battery, 265 cycles divided by 25 = 10.6%. So, it would be expected to be at about 89.4% or in the 89% to 90% range at this time.

Bottom line, the battery installed by the iShop declined about twice as fast as it should have.

I have to wonder whether a genuine Apple battery was installed in your iPhone?

The battery app you used is not providing battery health. It divided 3225 into 2481 and got 76.93%. That is not your battery health.

Apple uses a complex algorithm to calculate battery health and provide a more realistic and reliable health measurement. The algorithm uses multiple factors such as past charging history, current condition of battery, ambient temperature, battery temperature and much more.

While your battery is nearing EOL (End of Life) you still may get many months of useful service. I have a device that has been at 82% battery health for about 6 months.

I would discuss the matter with the merchant and see what they have to say.

It is an official istore confirmed by the link you included, the phone shows the battery as genuine, the battery stats app simply pulls the battery data from the chosen report in the Analytics Data records in Privacy and Security.

thank you for confirming what I already suspected that the battery may be “genuine” but is very substandard compared with the original.
