PDF files suddenly too big

I write crochet patterns (hence the word hooker) and they have to be under 20 MB to fit onto the Etsy platform…. Prior to the 15.3 .1 up date I was able to keep everything around about 2 MB since this upgrade to 14.6 Files started getting larger and with the 15.4.1 update. I cannot get my current file below 28 MB which is too big obviously to be published….. is this just me or is it coincidental that the upgrades have reduced my ability to reduce my files?
