iOS 26 and iCloud synchronization

I have a iPad (10-Gen) that can upgrade to iOS 26 and a MacBook Pro that can upgrade to macOS Tahoe. But my old and trusty iPhone XR cannot upgrade to iOS 26…

Can I upgrade my MacBook and my iPad, leaving my iPhone to iOS 18.7.1 without having issues with iCloud synchronization?

I remember that a few years back, there was some features that weren’t compatible between iOS and macOS and that it was preferable to leave all devices to the same software (just can’t remember which ones though).

Yes, you can absolutely upgrade your iPad and MacBook without interruption to iCloud sync to your iPhone XR.

I think you’re recalling the more “security sensitive” features when they were initially rolled-out.

I know Security Keys for Apple Account were one; and possibly Advanced iCloud Security as well.
