Volume lowered when using wired ear buds
When using Belkin wired ear buds with my iPhone 17 the volume gets lowered to mute. Only seems to happen when outdoors using 5g and not when at home on wifi. Help!

It sounds (no pun intended) like the iPhone might be misinterpreting something in the earbud’s inline controls or mic when conditions change, like when switching networks.
I do have a few suggestions that you can try to resolve this:
- Go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Headphone Safety and temporarily disable “Reduce Loud Audio.”
- Check for any dirt or moisture in the USB-C port.
- Restart the phone, then test again while outside.
- If the issue persists, try another wired headset (if available) — if it doesn’t happen, it’s likely the Belkin inline remote circuit reacting to ambient conditions.
- Finally, ensure you’re on the latest (currently iOS 26.0.1 build).
If none of that helps, try using these earbuds with another device. If the issue persists, then you know the potential culprit is with the earbuds themselves.
