No more capital letters on the first word of each sentence in macOS Tahoe

Since macOS 26 (and 26.1), when typing text, macOS no longer capitalizes the first word of each sentence. This happens in applications like Notes, TextEdit, Mail, Safari, etc. Yet, this setting is correctly selected in the Edit menu under Spelling & Grammar, as well as in System Settings under Keyboard. Do you have a solution to suggest?
