The Cloud Music Library can't be updated right now. Unknown error occurren (9097)

Had an issue updating a playlist on my Mac mini and the changes we're not being replicated on my phone. Turned off Sync Library in the hope of being able to force it to update - now it wont sync the cloud library at all and keep getting this error. Any ideas? Try later getting a little old seeing as I've trying 4 hours.

Mac mini, macOS 26.1

I had success with the information below. All but one playlist disappeared on my Mac and the syncing between phone and Mac was nonexistent. I was able to locate an old Library File and everything is now working properly.

Here’s the instructions I found with ChatGPT:

Update the Cloud Library

Sometimes the app just needs a nudge to refresh its connection to the cloud servers.

  • In the Music app on your Mac, go to the menu bar and choose File > Library > Update Cloud Library

4. Check for Local Library File Issues

If the playlists were locally stored or if syncing fails repeatedly, the library file on your Mac might be corrupted.

  • Option-start Music app: Quit the Music app. Hold down the Option key on your keyboard and reopen the Music app. A window will appear asking you to choose a library. Select your main Music Library.musiclibrary file (usually in ~/Music/Music/) to ensure you are opening the correct one.
  • Check "Previous Libraries": Your Music folder may contain a "Previous Libraries" folder with older, potentially uncorrupted library files that you can try opening with the Option key method.

Me too.

I tried all the solutions posted online for update issues, but none of them worked.

When I called Apple’s professional support and got an explanation, they said that if the data in the cloud library is huge, it can take a very long time to reload after a single glitch. I also have nearly 90,000 songs, so they told me that might be the reason, and I’m patiently waiting, but the updates are still very slow. My iPhone and iPad data are not glitched.

From here in the Far East of Japan, it’s somewhat comforting to know that I’m not the only one in the world experiencing the same error.
