Passwords is locked EVERY time I try to open the passwords app. I'd like it to stay unlocked
MacBook Pro M1
OS 26.0.1 Tahoe
I've seen this question asked over the years. And I've seen plenty of answers. And I still have no solution.
I recently switched to Passwords from years of using Roboforms.
I would like to use my PW to open Passwords just one time per session. Once I unlock Passwords, if the Mac doesn't sleep, I want it to stay unlocked for quick use. But I can find no way to do this. And in fact if I have the app open for a few minutes, even without using it, it will pop open a new ask for a PW.
The exact wording is: Passwords is Locked. Enter the password for the user "me" to unlock.
The answer that Apple and thus Google gives is to open "Keychain Access" (why isn't this functionality under the Passwords app?). And that certainly APEARS to be the answer. Except that it is ineffective. Here's the dialog box from Keychain Access that I'd like to function as it appears. I have "lock after" unchecked (I have also tried setting this to 6000 minutes, no difference). And "lock when sleeping" checked. But I still always have to log in whenever I touch the Passwords app.
- This has nothing to do with the App Store as is often suggested.
- It is often suggested to turn off "autofill" but that's one of the things that I wish to use the app for!
(now I wait for folks to tell me what information I have failed to include here.....)
Help?
