I am missing iMessages between March 23 and August 25 after getting a new iPhone (iPhone 6 to iPhone 14). How can I get them back? I backed up the phone to iCloud before resetting the old phone. Restore does not bring them up.

Are you using the same apple id on both phones?
For direct transfer of old apps, you need ios13 minimum on both your old (iphone6) and iphone 14. iphone6 cannot have ios13 so may be an issue with encryption or device upgrade compatibility issues with icloud app download interface.
Have you tried restoring the new iphone14 using iTunes?
