Unexpected battery drain on MacBook Pro 13 inch after shutdown

I have a 2020 MacBook Pro 13 inch screen. After use I shut it down. The following day when booted up I find Battery has used between 4% and 8%, sometimes more. Normally when I am at home I use the MacBook plugged in and leave the lead in until I finish - Battery then at 100%. I have checked the Mac is shut down by using the Caplock Light which goes off before I close the lid. On checking Battery state it is showing as normal. What could be causing this and how do I rectify it?

What could be causing this ...

A battery that is a bit old, but that's little more than a guess. Some battery depletion is normal, although that amount seems excessive even for one that's five years old.

... and how do I rectify it?

By having Apple or an authorized Apple service provider perform the replacement. Apple will be very reluctant to do that, and may even refuse, unless they determine the battery is in need of replacement. If the battery status is "normal" it means it's not in need of replacement. That will be their conclusion. Perhaps they will have suggestions though, so contact them using the Support link below. Choose "Battery replacement" at the appropriate step.

Needless to say never replace a Mac battery yourself or have unauthorized service performed on a Mac unless there are literally no other options.
