Washed out image on Mac Mini with Samsung monitor - used to be fine

Mac Mini 2023 with Tahoe 26.1 connected to Samsung 32" M80C monitor via Thunderbolt. Picture used to be great. Recently (after a Mac software update?) the picture became washed out/white e.g., on maps I see the street name by no street lines; everything is is extremely bright on the map. Same when I go shopping on amazon (on both Safari and Chrome). Adjusting Samsung display settings doesn't make a difference on the washed out images.

Does anyone know of a Mac software update that might have caused this? and the solution?

My M4 Mac Mini Pro (Tahoe 26.1, 14c/20g, 64 GB) is connected to a LG 32UN880-B display with a Belkin 8K Ultra HDMI cable. The System Settings > Displays has a toggle for HDR. When I enable HDR, the screen washes out brighter colors.

If you have a higher quality HDMI 2.1 cable comparable to mine, try that connected to your Samsung display instead of Thunderbolt, or try a different Thunderbolt capable port.
