Apple Music iCloud Music Library sync fails with errors

Persistent Apple Music / iCloud Music Library Error 4007 (sometimes 4010) – ongoing for 2–3 days

Hi everyone,

For the past 2–3 days, I’ve been having major issues with my Apple Music library on macOS.

  • Many songs are shown as “Downloaded” locally, but the files are actually missing.
  • Several recently purchased iTunes albums have disappeared — they’re not in the local Music folder, and they don’t show up on music.apple.com either.
  • Every time I try to update or sync the iCloud Music Library, I get the error:
“The music library in the cloud cannot be updated at this time. An unknown error occurred (4007).”
Sometimes it shows (4010) instead.
  • My playlists are duplicated, some tracks are greyed out, and the app says “Syncing with Cloud Music Library” for hours without completing.
  • I’ve seen other people mention this same issue over the last couple of days, so it may be an Apple server-side problem rather than something on my Mac.

Things I’ve already tried:

  • Signing out and back into Apple Music / iCloud.
  • Toggling “Sync Library” off and on again.
  • Clearing the Music app cache and restarting.
  • Restoring the Music folder from Time Machine.
  • Checking that the purchased albums still appear under my Apple ID.

None of this has fixed the sync errors — 4007 and 4010 keep coming back.

Question:

Is anyone else still seeing these same errors over the last 2–3 days?

Could this be a temporary Apple Music / iCloud outage or something wrong with Apple’s servers?

Any solution that worked for you to get your library recognized again without losing purchases?

Thanks in advance! Raph
