Media playback disabled randomly - Macbook Pro, Tahoe.

Occasionally (about once a day) I'll no longer be able to play any media on my Macbook Pro, requiring a restart. This issue started happening last week when I upgraded to Tahoe 26.1 (from 15.7).

This occurs when waking my computer from sleep, it doesn't happen randomly while my computer has been on, it's always after a sleep state. What happens is Spotify will fail to load or playback any music, if it does eventually load something, there's no sound to be heard. Adobe Premiere won't play back any video in my timeline (just stays frozen). Preview won't playback a video (just stays frozen), Quicktime won't playback a video (just stays frozen), YouTube video will not load and will display an error message saying I need to restart my computer. All of these things occur at the same time. And again, a restart fixes it.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

*** (if you are using a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries— connect the charging cable, this will make the wired keyboard successful Safe Boot your Mac.)

if no insight—

Reinstalling the macOS on top of your existing macOS will sort many upgrade anomalies...
