Replacing a Time machine backup
What's th best way of removing a Time Machine backup and starting a new one? (I'm using Sequioa on an iMac.)

You could reformat the backup drive to start over or get a new external drive.
To reformat the drive: Erase and reformat a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support. Choose the APFS case-sensitive format (encrypted or not, depending on your preference.)
