Why is the iPad keyboard still broken after ten or so 26.x releases?

Ever since iPadOS 26.0 release (I didn't try the betas), the fixed keyboard on my iPad 11 does NOT show domain suffixes (.com .org .net, etc.) when I press and hold the period key when I am typing in the address bar in Safari. Every beta and release since then continues to have this issue.

If you switch to the floating keyboard, it works for some reason. I don't want to use the floating keyboard, I want to use the fixed one and have it work as it always has.

I don't have this issue on my iPhone 16.

What gives?

Patrick123, it’s not on my keyboard as well, new iPad Pro 11” (M5) on iPadOS 26.1.

What I tried is a text replacement. So when I type .c it either becomes .com when I use the space bar, or on some sights the .com will show up in bold text, then I hit the space bar. Not perfect but I do not want to use the floating keyboard.
