Recommendations for 2667 MHz DDR4 RAM for iMac

Hi!

I have an IMac 27 from 2020 and are in a need off updating my Ram, have 8 at the moment.

But when I look around and see the ratings a handful off people have both different ones that completely broke their computer. Even if it's suppost to be for Apple and other people did not have a problem. The cost to fix it was apparently high and we don't have a Apple store in my city.

Do anyone have a recommendation on new 2667 MHz DDR4? That's for my computer?

macs are picky with memory

when I upgraded my old imac 2011 I had success with Crucial

In 2021, I purchased an Apple refurbished 2020 27-inch Core i7 iMac with 8GB RAM and added an OWC 32 GB RAM card. This iMac has been flawless ever since and is currently running macOS Sequoia v15.7.2.

I have purchased OWC RAM for other Macs (iMac or Intel Mac Mini) over the years and have had no issues at all. OWC also offers life-time RAM warranty.

For what it's worth, memory cards cannot break a computer. There are cards that may not be the best quality and fail or be DOA. However, Crucial & OWC RAM have a long history of making reliable RAM.

As I already explained, there have been bad memory cards that either are DOA or fail after some time. Which is why experienced users recommend OWC or Crucial. In any case, as I also explained, even if a memory card fails, it can't break a computer. It would just need replaced.

I can't explain it any clearer than that.

I've had OWC RAM in my 2015 iMac and 2017 iMac Pro and they're still chugging along. 🤷‍♂️

Then why does so many people comment that their computer won't start after installing the new chip and needing to turn it in to apple to fix it?

Because they don't know any better. If they install bad RAM their Mac may not boot but, all they need to do is install good RAM. Simple.

electronic is rather sensitive to static electricity so if people change the insides of computers without being grounded and they are charged they can zap stuff.

I talked with apple and they said that the wrong RAM card could hurt the computer and sadly they, altlist ik my contry, don't carry the card them self

I like that the company wants to fix any problems, even if that one to have crashed computers. Mabye worth a mail and see what they think and what their responsibility is if card does broke my computer.

A lot off people are saying that they worked first for a time, then started crashing and after that not starting. Even after removing the new cards. So "not knowing any better" and explaining what happend to them and how their computer is not working at all after the new card is not the same. I can't risk my computer breaking down that's why I lisen to people expertens.
