iMac fails to boot up

I have a late 2013 iMac that will not startup. On boot I get the Mac sound, it shows the macSSD icon and then loops between the icon and the support message screen (circle with line thru it. Ditto for safe mode. Recovery and internet recovery both show spinning globe and end up stuck on white screen with apple logo. USB EFI boot also fails looping on support message screen hardware test (D key) shows no problems. Any solutions would be appreciated.

I suppose you don’t have a bootable clone on an external hard drive do you?

Do you know anyone locally to you that could give/lend you a bootable MacOS on an external hard drive, I am guessing up to Catalina?

You could then try to boot with that and if successful then you could run disk first aid on your Imac.

There are possible other options depending on how you get on with the above.
