Apple Passwords not autofilling for one specific website

I have a recurrent problem with the Apple password app not autofilling ONE specific website and I am trying to understand how to troubleshoot. The website address is correctly entered in the password details. I am able to manually copy the password when accessing the site. The other sites I regularly use autofill correctly but not this specific site. What do I look for to solve this issue?

There are site-specific hacks designed to prevent autofilling of passwords and other data, but all recent browsers have been coded to ignore such requests — because it's an incredibly bad idea that encourages equally incredibly bad habits of recording confidential information.

I don't necessarily want you to provide the name (URL) of that specific website. You can if you so choose but if you prefer to troubleshoot it on your own you will need to use Safari's Web Inspector: Web Inspector | Apple Developer Documentation

There is this Javascript method to prevent autofill: https://jsfiddle.net/danielsuess/n0scguv6/

I tried it with Safari and it doesn't — and should not — work, because it's an incredibly bad idea. There may be other ways, similar to that one.

Thanks for that additional information.

Please understand that I can't help with "Last Pass" or other non-Apple things that alter Safari's behavior. Like everything Apple does, Safari Autofill ought to "just work". When introducing non-Apple add-ons and extensions though, you're kind of on your own. Contact its developer for assistance, should you be so motivated. Since they implemented the code they probably will conclude the page is working as they deem appropriate.

Apple's tool to investigate and debug webpage code is very useful, but it does require some knowledge of website coding including Javascript. That's how you would go about troubleshooting it on your own.

Most likely, the webpage in question is using some kind of ill-conceived code designed to prevent "Last Pass" and / or Safari's built-in password manager to work as it should. Intentionally disabling password managers — whether they be Apple's iCloud or non-Apple equivalents — is a very bad idea. Other than complaining to its developer and directing them to fundamental aspects of webpage design and security, that's all you can do.

For what it's worth at least one other Webkit browser also ignores that code — as it should.

I think we might be talking about different things.

The site where the Apple password is not working has accepted autofill from Last Pass previously. I recently switched from a Windows laptop to a Mac and found Last Pass to be much less functional (at least on Safari), so decided to start using the Apple passwords app. For the sites where I have implemented, it seems to work well. But on the problem site, the login page remains empty, even though the app is open and I can see the entry for that site.

Alternatives I will also explore: using Firefox - or Chrome - (and hoping that the Last Pass extension works there) or transferring everything to Passwords.

I also just noted that even though I am not logged into Last Pass, the user ID and password fields on the problem site still have a grayed icon for Last Pass in place. So maybe the site, or Safari, are retaining something.

I did look at the tool you linked to. It is beyond my current level of knowledge.

(I actually - obviously foolishly - switched to a Mac thinking it would be a great deal closer to the iPhone and iPad experience than it is, since I have been using both for many years.
