Airdrop does not work between my Mac Studio M1 MAX and my iMac 10,1!
It was never a problem between 2 Intel Macs! I see that others have the same problem, plus other transfer versions.
I need a simple, fast file transfer for my profession that works! Thank you for your time and patience.

An "iMac 10,1" is a 2009 model (now 16 years old). What version of OS X/macOS are you running on it? You need at least Yosemite (macOS 10.10.x) to get basic Airdrop functionality on it; WiFi & Bluetooth need to be enabled on both Macs; the Macs need to be within ~25' of each other.
I have never had a problem with Airdrop between Intel & Apple Silicon Macs ... but I'm not using 16 year old iMacs. It 'could' be a Bluetooth incompatibilty ... the 2009 iMac only supports BT v2.1 but the M1 Studio Max is BT v5.0. What, exactly, is the problem you have encountered?
iCloud Drive might be another possibility. Although there, network speeds might be more of a limiting factor than they would be with local file sharing.
