Remove unwanted '.co.uk' suggestion on iPad Safari

Safari start page on iPad (iPadOS 26.1)

Is there any way to configure out the '.co.uk' that is cluttering up part of where the spacebar should extend?

I guess it's meant to be helpful but it just gets in the way and that's just one of many domains I might want to type, so as a 'timesaver' it's worth just about nothing.

From what you describe it seems a third virtual keyboard may have been installed. That .co.uk does not appear on the US default keyboard, so it may be the consequence of installing an app or other third party keyboard. The initial place to check is Settings > General > Keyboard.

Also, if that iPad's language or region are not set to your preferences, read Change the language and region on iPad - Apple Support.

Unfortunately not that simple. This appears to be the standard English-UK keyboard. No other keyboards have been installed and language settings are for English-UK. It is quite selective where it appears as in Safari start page where I might want to enter a URL, but not on a form data-entry page. It does though appear in an IMDB search where a URL is not something to search for which makes me think it is some kind of background default keyboard in UK settings. Only Apple knows probably.

Here's a screenshot of the keyboard with the unnecessary ".co.uk" which I've noticed does sometimes appear elsewhere, e.g. an IMDB search so I guess it is the default keyboard. Prior to iPadOS 26 we had the even more useless scribble key consuming space but at least that can be configured out now. Some other apps mess around as well by adding other 'helpful' keys that just get in the way.
