iPhone 15 continuously plays looped school corridor noise

This is a strange one. My daughter has an iphone 15. She was on capcut which is a video editing app. It seems as though somehow her phone picked up the noise in the school corridor and is now continuously playing it on a loop. About 5 seconds of it maybe. Its beyond annoying now. She had to have the sound right down ever since otherwise you can hear it. She restarted and it stopped briefly then started. We reset all settings. Again, it stopped for a few minutes then restarted.

She has no voice memos. There is no music playing (she doesn't have any music apps other than youtube which wasn't it) we deleted capcut. Restarted again, same happened again. I tried removing any photo/video app and its still doing it. I checked accessibility settings, nothing. she doesn't have any memos or voice clips saved so its not that.

Any notification sounds are set as normal. She doesn't have live wallpaper on.

I tried googling but mostly the help is "no sounds" that would be preferable to teens making silly noises. Or its app related or articles saying about apps playing even when closed in the background. None of that applies.

Its not been dropped since it started, not got wet.

Any ideas???

I have paid for storage as she was full (sigh) so she is now syncing her 5k photos, but my worry is that if we restore her phone from a backup, its just going to do it again.

I can sympathise with how annoying it is. Think teens making stupid noises in an echoey corridor on a loop. She cannot turn her volume up as it over rides everything, even the sound on youtube etc.

Check the Shortcuts app and look under My Shortcuts. You can create a shortcut or someone else can share a Shortcut, that will play a sound at a specified interval or when an action is performed. Kids like to do this as a prank and it also found on Social Media where you can download them.

Where do shortcuts get the soundtrack to play? There was a spooky voice playing at night on another phone earlier today.

The source of the sound to play can come from the Files app, Music Library, Voice Memo recordings, or URL where a specific sound located on the internet can be played. Then it is just a matter of setting the trigger, which can be a when performing a specific action, at a certain time of day, or repeat at intervals such as hourly.

Yeah, checking background apps was one of the first things I tried but literally nothing is there..

Ok so she just opened snap chat and literally it popped up again with something she hadn't finished doing. But the app wasn't open in the background so I totally don't get that.

I had deleted everything else but that oml.

Hopefully issue solved, fingers crossed! Thank you all for helping, hopefully It won't start up again.

Did she open the recently deleted folder and permanently delete the video there? When delete a photo of video, it doesn't immediately delete. It goes to the Recently Deleted folder, where it stays for up to 30 days in case you wanted to restore it. Once deleted from Recently Deleted, Force Restart the phone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
