photos converting into jpeg instead of original file format, please help !

why cant i download most photos off apps like Discord without them turning automatically into jpegs?? ive tried the 'Keep Originals' setting but it doesnt work. there are so many images i want to use without them being made into jpegs and keeping as a png or gif but there is no sort of setting to disable this and actually keep my original file formats. please help, its starting to tick me off now

for the record, i use an IPhone 11 with version iOS 18.6.2
