Need AirTag to alert me.

I have an AirTag attached to a piece of essential equipment for my wife who is disabled. How can I get it to alert me if I have gone out and left it at home?

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26

You need to set "Notify when left behind": Set separation alerts in case you leave an AirTag or item behind in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support.

You should know that my AirTags don't notify me immediately (other users have seen the same.) I have to wait about 5 minutes after leaving the AirTag behind to be notified.

I don’t believe you can change specifically the sound volume of this notification as it is a standard notification. You’d need to increase the volume of all notifications. There are no settings to make the notification an alert.

For CarPlay, on your iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications > Find My, and make sure “Show in CarPlay” is turned on.

Is there any way I can make that notification more forceful? Could it trigger an alarm sound? Or display on my car screen through CarPlay?
