Apple Watch Ultra 2 not downloading Music I own from iPhone.

Yes, tried all the usual tips and suggestions, nothing works. Even sent the watch out for repair via the apple store. After the tech there was able to reproduce the problem. Still the same issue after receiving a new watch. It’s clearly a software “bug”.

Decided to see what would happen if I tried downloading from Apple Music subscription and no issues… music downloads fast and easy. Crazy how that “just works” but all the music I actually own, either ripped from CD or bought from iTunes will not download to the watch.

I have a pretty extensive collection of electronic music from the 90s that I use to workout and I can not listen to any of it unless I take my phone with me. This defeats the whole reason I got this watch!

This music is not available on any streaming service. So I have literally no options. Inside apples ecosystem.

Yeah the music all plays fine and syncs with both my iPhone and MacBook.

Before the OS26 updates it synced fine on my watch as well. It was annoyingly slow, Taking roughly a week to get about 60-70 albums (over 30GB) but it did work, going back 3 different Apple Watches.

I have only just this week signed up with Apple Music subscription. Basically as a test for troubleshooting. I have always been able to download music from my library (ripped from CDs, downloaded from Bandcamp, etc) and listen to them when I go on bike rides without my phone. its only been just recently that it won't download to my watch.

I think I have narrowed down the problem to the watch app. this is the only thing I can't change. I think they broke it sometime around the OS26 update and I really wish they would fix it. I know I am probably in a very small minority. just sucks that features have been removed months after purchasing this watch specifically marketed to active people.

Maybe you should tell them directly about the now missing option by using the Feedback link:

Feedback - Apple Watch - Apple

The Apple Watch User guide only states, that you can use the Music app on the watch or the Watch App on the iPhone.

...

You can add specific playlists and albums to your Apple Watch using the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, you can also add music with the Music app directly on your Apple Watch.
