#images (GIFs) all grayed out in Messages

#images GIFs are grayed out (all the squares) in Messages. All the squares from which to select are gray. MacBook Air M2, started in Sequoia maybe four months ago (July/August 2025) and is continuing in Tahoe. Created another user account, and the #images appear there in Messages, as they do on my iPhone. So, it seems there’s something that’s corrupted in my User account. Have been through lots of steps, per ChatGPT. Nothing has worked.
