Mac Mini warranty started before purchase date

Mac Mini Warranty Started Before Purchase — Is This Normal?

I bought a Mac Mini M4 from DazzleBD on 27th November 2025. But when I checked the device's warranty, I saw it had already been activated on 10th November 2025. When I spoke to DazzleBD about this, they said that Apple activates the device itself before sending the product to them.

This argument does not seem acceptable to me at all. Because I know that Apple never activates the device before releasing it to the market. Usually, the warranty starts only when a customer logs in with their Apple ID for the first time.

So now I really don't understand what to do, and I hope you can explain this properly.

Mac mini, macOS 26.1

If you buy from an authorised reseller the warranty starts from the date of purchase but many outlets are not authorised and the warranty on their stuff appears to start from the time they acquired it.

I would return it and get it from a respected third party source such as Amazon who offer massive discounts.

This google search answer gives the lowdown on DazzleBD.

No, DazzleBD is not an Apple Authorised Reseller. It is an independent mobile phone shop in Bangladesh that sells both official and unofficial (grey market) iPhones.

While DazzleBD claims to offer an "official Apple warranty" and "100% Authentic Products" on its website, user discussions and community forums indicate that the business operates outside of Apple's official sales channels. One customer reported an issue where a Mac Mini's warranty was already active before the purchase date, which is inconsistent with Apple's standard activation policy.

To find legitimate, authorised Apple resellers in Bangladesh, you should use the official Apple Location Finder on Apple's website. Examples of confirmed authorised resellers in Bangladesh include Executive Machines Ltd and Gadget Studio by G&G.

If DazzleBD is not an Apple authorized reseller, then this is very bad since it means DazzleBD will be considered the original owner of this Mac which can cause you problems if you ever need to have Apple unlock your device.

If DazzleBD is an Apple authorized reseller, then most likely what @Allan Jones has posted is correct & everything is Ok.

It all comes down to whether DazzleBD is an Apple authorized reseller.

Well, I hope you understand you are not asking Apple in these user-to-user, mutual aide communities. As your fellow end users, we can only report our experiences and observations.

My observation from buying many items Apple-direct: the device is not activated BUT the warranty date appears to start when the device leaves Apple's control.

I offer this bit of recent evidence. This spring I ordered a bespoke Macbook Pro from Apple's US online store. The Apple emails showed it shipped on March 12. It was delayed in customs in Anchorage and I did not receive it until about March 19 or 20. Note the warranty expiration date as shown in System Settings > AppleCare & Warranty:

This is a pattern I've seen before.

As your fellow end user I have no idea where DazzleBD is or if they are an Apple-authorized reseller. IF not, that further complicates the date issue. Still the date fits the patterns I have observed in 20-something years of ordering directly from Apple.

If you need official clarification, it cannot be found here. You need to contact Apple directly. There is a mechanism for requesting a date correction. See: Correct a Purchase or Expiration Date

With this information, the OP should return this Mac for a full refund even if it was in a sealed box since the OP will never have an official Apple receipt to confirm themselves as the original & official owner of that Mac which becomes a huge problem if the OP ever needs to have Apple reset any security features or the Mac will be a brick.

The OP should perform all of the following steps prior to returning that Mac to the seller in order to disassociate their AppleID/iCloud from the Mac and to delete all of their personal files from the computer:
