How do I recover missing pages and icons on iPad without Home button?

Hi I have an iPad without the home button, updated to latest 26 . I had about a dozen pages of icons and folders, now I have only the first page and the last page. Focus is turned off, nothing in hidden. I’ve tried powering down and turning on again, I don’t want to reset my iPad as my home page is full and it would be a nightmare trying to arrange them again. I have done nothing to trigger this loss. Last month all of my deleted emails suddenly appeared in my inbox, going back to 2021! I’m slowly deleting them again. The iPad was perfectly fine last night, but this morning, no pages and no page indicator dots at the bottom of the screen. When I jiggle the icons only two page indicator dots appear.

Perhaps you have deselected (hidden) some of your Home Screen pages. This is entirely different to hiding individual App icons...

To hide/show or rearrange you home screen pages:

Enter edit mode: Touch and hold an empty area on any Home Screen until the apps start to jiggle.
Access pages: Tap the row of dots at the bottom of the screen to see all your Home Screen pages at once.
Rearrange pages: Tap and hold a page and drag it to a new position in the list.
Hide/unhide pages: Tap the circle below any page to hide it (uncheck the circle) or show it again (check the circle).
Exit edit mode: Tap "Done" in the top right corner.
