Music app on MacBook Air switches audio output from DAC

I have an external drive with music connected via USB-C to my 2022 MacBook Air. I’ve been using a DAC to play audio through my stereo system. Starting 2 Days ago, when I choose a song to play, the music app opens and switches the audio out from the DAC to the MacBook air speakers so I can’t play audio through the DAC.

Froce Default Audio Device:

You can't force the default audio output device directly through the GUI(Graphical User Interface), but there is a command to use through use of a command in Terminal. Make Terminal open as a Login Item, and assign the code as the default shell to run when it opens. Elsewise, it's a matter of using a third-party app or creating one with AppleScript.

Recommend this to Apple:

Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know of what is occurring, and what features to include in macOS versions to come. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't report it to them. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if your don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Application/Utilities" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Comment: that you want thi to be an option, and why. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary.
