Can't find my iPhone photos.

When I take a photo on my new iPhone where is it stored? I can't find it in Photos on my iPhone or on my Mac.

My phone is the 16e model and I am using OS15.7.1 on the Mac.

iPhone 16e, iOS 18

Your photos are stored on your iPhone 16e, but they aren’t showing because your Mac is on macOS 15.7.1, which cannot sync or import photos from an iPhone running iOS 18 unless you use iCloud Photos or the “Transfer to Mac → Automatic” setting. Turn on iCloud Photos on both devices or set your iPhone to convert photos when transferring. AirDrop also works for individual images.

I wonder if you're just not looking in the right place? How are you sorting your Library? Since iOS 18, you can sort the Library by either the date the picture was taken, or by the date the picture was added to the Library. To do that, you first make sure that you are in the Library view by scrolling up from the Photos view

and the Sort menu at the bottom lets you choose the order in which you see the pictures. If you pick "Recently Added," then the pictures you have just put on the phone will show up in the very center of the screen in Photos view when you first open Photos:

Another option is to go to the Utilities section, usually near the bottom, and look in "Recently Saved."

The Photos app on the Mac works about the same way. But pictures automatically copy to the Mac if you are using iCloud Photos. You have to turn iCloud Photos on in Settings for both devices.

Does that work for you?
