Typing in full screen on iPad

Hi folks - When I open a web app in full screen on my iPad in Safari (for instance, my remote machine can be controlled via web browser), I oftentimes see an alert around ‘typing while in full screen’ and notice that I am restricted from entering any text into the full screen browser window.

While I understand that this is an important security precaution for many users that might be fooled into typing credentials into a full screen app pretending to be another website, this is a pretty frustrating experience for users who actually do *need* to type while in full screen.

Is there any way to turn off this behavior in Safari or Chrome so that I can actually type text into a full screen window?

iPadOS 18 blocks typing in “true” full-screen web apps for security reasons, and this cannot be disabled in Safari or Chrome. All iOS browsers use WebKit and are subject to the same rule. To type normally, avoid entering the web page’s full screen mode and instead use Safari’s “Hide Toolbar” mode, Split View, or a native remote-desktop app.
