Macbook Pro freezes and shuts down.

MacbookPro (2017/13"/Intel)

On bootcamp (Win10) I was playing a video game fullscreen, then the screen froze with green sandstorm looking effects visible and the computer stopped to respond to any inputs.

I hold down the power button to shut it down and rebooted into macOS (13).

On login screen I entered password and proceeded. While Apple logo in the black screen with a progress bar moving the computer shut down on its own.

I tried to reboot into the safe mode but the same happened as above.

I reset the NVRAM then I managed to long in to the normal mode desktop, then the screen froze with green sandstorm looking effects visible and the computer stopped to respond to any inputs.

I could boot into the safe mode but the same situation as above.

At some point the screen gradually start to show flickering pixels or sandstorm looking effects (green/purplish) then shutdown.

What should I do?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.7

Sounds like a GPU issue

to rule out your Display you can plug in an external monitor and see if all is well.

If you see the issue on the external display it confirms the GPU.

while it is entirely possible, there are no reports of dark screens caused by GPU issues.

What happens far, far, more often is that users have added software that interferes with macOS.

Consider downloading and running this little "discovery" utility, Etrecheck. It changes NOTHING. Etrecheck was developed by a senior contributor here, and uses mostly system calls and simple tests to collect often-needed information.

it contains little tests for speeds of devices, CPU utilization, memory usage, energy usage and a digest of recent problems, in one easy to use package. it does not even need to be Installed. Because less can be learned when your Mac is running great, best time to run is when your problems are actually occurring, if possible.

if you follow the directions faithfully, its report (pre-laundered of all personally-identifiable information) can be "Shared" to the System ClipBoard, then Pasted into an ‘Additional Text’ window in a reply on the forums.

Use Etrecheck Pro for free:

http://Etrecheck.com

The amount of data you get can be daunting. If you POST your report, some Readers here are willing to look over those reports, and can provide valuable insights.

Then start reply on the forums, click the "additional text" icon, and PASTE

Sometimes (not always) I can boot into the recovery mode and first aid says startup disk appears to be ok.

When the recovery mode is up everything seems to be just fine. No flickering or freezing or any glitches happen. Sometime passes and still it appears to be working just fine.

But whenever I tried to boot into other modes like normal mac, safe mode mac or bootcamp windows, usually during login process it starts to be flickering then freeze so I have to force shutdown the computer.

Well, I just found out that I cannot even turn on the computer now. With or without a power cable connected, after holding down the power button or not, nothing happens anymore. I had been having a battery issue for years at this point and I neglected it this whole time, so...

When/if I could manage to power it on, i will definitely try your suggestion.

Thank you very much for the advice.
