I am facing a lot of trouble with my iphone 16 ever since I had installed iOS 26.1, the sms get lost, the recent call list is seen after a lag of say 30-40 seconds, the Apps are taking a lot of lag time to open up. unable to Airdrop files through WhatsApp

A) Try a "forced" restart of your device using these instructions: Put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these gestures:
In rapid sequence, press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).
B) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.
I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).
When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).
Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Nationwide banking UK works fine for me on iphone SE iOS26.1
Are you running VPN?
After updating, the phone will not connect to the Internet with either wireless or cellular connections. It won’t even allow the phone to log into this to post a message.
the phone can access both cellular and wifi networks for Safari and to make and receive calls, but is not able to connect to apple or account.
The recent call history was not showing, after long long time it was showing also we have to close the app and open again and again. Phone is fully hanging some apps are automatically closing. This type of issues not expected from apple.
Problems with Messages App, Major Problems in Safari lagging, touchscreen stops working, app closes without being prompted, and opens back up with other apps I was on previously. Totally wishI could go back to the previous version. Also I hate the update to Safari, having to touch the 3 dots instead of the square to get a new search or close all tabs is insufferable.
Installed iOS 26.1 on my iPhone 14 Pro today. I can no longer download photos to the Photos app on my iMac.
Photos recognizes the phone, but says "No Photos". "Open Photos for this device" is checked.
Downloading to Photos worked fine before iOS 26.1 was installed.
It's not clear if Photos is "turned on" on the phone. Do you mean is "sync this phone" turned on? It isn't.
Your answer seems to imply that I'm now required to sync my photos to iCloud if I want to download them to my iMac. Is that true? That was not the case in previous iOS versions. I don't have "sync this phone" on because I don't want to pay for extra storage.
This 26.1 update is killing my battery, easily go a full day with battery to spare yesterday, today after update and light phone use the battery is at 12% at 2pm , I know Apple has a long history of killing battery with updates but this is rediculious. Pick up your game Apple.
I’ve also had an issue with FACE ID as well! Tried to get it to work by restarting the phone after the update, didn’t work. Tried to reset Face ID and now it just doesn’t even recognize my face saying to lower the camera or raise it up despite my face being in frame… very frustrating. Got to the point it said ‘Face ID isn’t working right now’ so now I’m merely stuck with my passcode… didn’t have this issue until I got the new update…
All of a sudden my iPhone 16 pro max internet and apps stopped working. I’m on IOS 26.1. I don’t use safari for my browser, I use brave. I restarted, reset my network, tried a different DNS on and off WiFi.
am I stuck backing up my phone to my MacBook and doing a reset.

You may not believe it, but the person you responded to did provide factual information. We know why your App Store won't connect and you have found the solution. Apple is not telling you to install the VPN and the third party developer has the opportunity to test their software on the beta versions of the OS far earlier than when it is released to you.

it totally messed up my interface.
buttons and fields where I don’t want them to go or even less accessible like hidden in menus.
very very disappointing.

Aside from the slow sms issues, the screen icons are completely annoying. The “transparency” is hard to read and I totally hate the bouncy icons especially the login icons. Completely unnecessary and like I said very annoying. Almost makes me feel dizzy.
I play a set of 3 games called Mind Arcade to improve my brain. It will now let me play first set but when it goes onto second set it just freezes. I can’t go any further. I can’t go onto third set until second set is completed. I’ve tried restarting my phone
